13 June 2012

Wednesday 13 June 2012, in the framework of the 5th ESOLi project meeting on the beautiful ISVW estate in Leusden (The Nertherlands), Luminext organised a hands-on workshop about intelligent street lighting and the energy saving possibilities, followed by a study visit.

The workshop was opened by a presentation of Innolumis. Han van der Steen gave a clear presentation about RGB light (Red, Green, Blue) and mesopic sight. After the theoretical explanations it was clearly demonstrated in practice how different colours of lighting influence human sight at night.

After this very interesting demonstration Henk Walraven from Luminext moved on with a presentation about dynamic outdoor lighting and remote control. The complete system was showed and explained, from the single lamp to the central management system.

In five groups of six, different kinds of solutions were built: wireless OLC's, powerline OLC's, LED lighting and "conventional" Son-T lamps. During this really practical and very funny exercise participants could work with their own hands, and see with their own eyes how the system works in practice. The workshop resulted in piece by piece well-made fixtures that were tested and dimmed at the end of the workshop.

In order to further enrich the afternoon workshop, after dinner a tour was organised to visit different kinds of Luminext ISL installations in the province of Utrecht, like the national road N225, the parking of "estate Zonheuvel" in Doorn and the wildlife passage "Treekerwissel". This on-site study visit gave an ever better view on intelligent outdoor lighting and what the possibilities are. At the end of the day dynamic outdoor lighting had no more secrets for participants!
