ESOLi aimed to increase the awareness of intelligent street lighting and accelerate the use of the best available technologies across Europe.
The overall objective of ESOLi was to foster the extended use of intelligent lighting systems in outdoor areas and to remove barriers for a large scale technology roll-out.
Project partners assessed energy savings in different settings, helped to coordinate procurement initiatives, speeded up the development of legislation and standards, and drew up a list of customers’ requirements.
The ESOLi consortium is composed of 16 partners from 14 European countries. They are street lighting operators (incl. utilities), energy agencies, local authorities, key actors, industry representatives and consultants.
ESOLi (Energy Saving Outdoor Lighting) is a project funded by the Intelligent Energy Europe program of the European Union. (Contract number: IEE/09/927/SI2.558319 ESOLi)
Happy end: The final ESOLi consortium meeting gathering all 16 project partners from 14 countries took place in Bruxelles on 10-11 April 2013.
The Intelligent Energy Europe programme works to make Europe more competitive and innovative while, at the same time, helping it to deliver on its ambitious climate change objectives.
By 2020, the EU is committed to:
> 20% less greenhouse gas emissions
> 20% better energy efficiency
